THE PROJECT OF BOOK VENDING MACHINE FOR DESABLED STUDENTS UNIT SCHOOL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, EGE UNIVERSITY

Summary
Kitapmatik Project, which was carried out within the scope of Scientific Research Projects, had been planned to deliver educational service to students who pursue their English language learning education or aim to advance in English language learning at the School of Foreign Languages and Ege University as well. The vending machines are equipped with English language graded readers which serve the needs of the university students. In both buildings at School of Foreign Languages, book vending machines, which were shaped like two huge books, were placed. Since the implementation of the project, English language readers have become convenient for the students. Furthermore, the project contributed greatly to the reading skills and habits of the students. While benefitting individually, students also purchased books in groups where they have passed on the ones they have read as well. This increased the impact rate of the project. The book vending machine project has been carried out in different sectors such as tourism, transportation and so on. However, it is known to be the first time to be implemented in an educational field. The income earned from the project has been transferred to the EU Engelsiz Ege Unit to support the students at EU in special needs.
