Evaluation of Poultry Litter and Recovery of Phosphorus Compunds

Project no. 20904 · Status: Kapanmış · 2019

Summary

This study is on Leying Hens Litter (TG) supplied from Güres Enerji and on laying hens litter ash (TGK) from Güres Enerji fluidized bed power plant. The study consists of 3 groups of trials. In the first group trials; Combustion method, hydrothermal carbonization and pyrolysis were studied in the evaluation of TG as an energy raw material. The production of hydrochar from leying hens litter by hydrothermal carbonization (HTK) method and biochar production by pyrolysis method, which is one of these thermochemical methods, was investigated. “HTK”process was carried out between determined temperatures (200-240°C) and determined duration times (0 - 60 minutes); pyrolysis process was performed between determined temperatures (300-500°C) and determined duration times (0-1 hour), The effects of process type and conditions on the obtained biochar/hydrochar properties were investigated. In the second group trials; Phosphorus was tried to be recovered by acid extraction from laying hens litter ash (TGK) and “char” obtained by carbonization method, followed by alkali precipitation method. Acid extraction and alkali precipitation conditions (such as acid concentration, extraction time) were optimized for phosphorus recovery with the highest efficiency. In addition, the effect of the production conditions of the "char" on the total phosphorus and bioavailable phosphorus content of the "char" was investigated. In the third group trials; It has been studied to obtain activated carbon from both “chars” obtained by carbonization and phosphorus extracted chars. The outputs of the study will contribute to the sustainable production of phosphorus fertilizer in our country and will also be a solution for waste disposal, which is a big problem for the poultry industry.
