IŞIKLI VE DUR KONTROLLÜ KAVŞAKLARDA ÇARPIŞMAYA KALAN SÜRENİN MODELLENMESİ

Project no. 782 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

Traffic accident prevention is a very important issue with the increase in vehicle ownership rate. In recent years, systems have been developed to prevent accidents before they occur. These methods are mainly based on the accurate determination of Time to Collision (TTC) which is one of the Surrogate Safety Measures (SSM) used in traffic safety analyses. By means of SSM, the number and types of conflicts occurring at the intersection and/or road sections examined are determined and information about intersection safety is obtained. Within the scope of the project, unmanned aerial vehicles were used to record traffic at two intersections and traffic related parameters were obtained from the recorded videos. Traffic conflicts and types were determined by modeling intersections in a simulation program. There are not enough studies on traffic safety in our country. Considering the differences in driver behavior and road geometric standards, it becomes important to study the data related to SSM for our country. This project is one of the limited number of studies that conducted traffic safety analysis using SSM.
