Determination of Rainfall Uniformity
Project no. 747 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016
Summary
For hydrology, the importance of feasibility, sustainability and accuracy of observational and/or experimental studies cannot be denied. It is possible to simulate hydrological processes under laboratory conditions. Experimental hydrology studies are usually expensive and require a lot of manpower, but the accuracy of the various mathematical models can only be ensured through such studies. In this study, hydrology apparatus, established in Ege University, Department of Civil Engineering, Hydraulics Laboratory was used. In terms of hydrological studies, the rain generated in the mentioned hydrology apparatus should simulate natural rain. The reproducibility and uniformity of the rain produced by the rain simulator was tested with this study. The spatial uniformity of the precipitation was checked using the Christiansen Uniformity Coefficient (CuC). In addition, flow hydrographs were obtained for different durations of precipitation with the help of experimental apparatus. Flow hydrographs have proved the performance and functionality of the experimental setup.
