Farklı Düzeylerdeki Türk Basketbol Hakemlerinin Algısal ve Koordinatif Profillerinin Araştırılması (Investigation of Perceptual and Coordinative Profiles in Turkish Basketball Referees of Different Levels)

Project no. 21520 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2020

Summary

ABSTRACT The aim of the study is to determine the perceptual skills and coordinative abilities such as decision-making process, peripheral vision, reaction time, and anticipation in provincial and classification basketball referees. The sample of this study consists of the Provincial and C classification referees of the Turkish Basketball Federation, who regularly take on match duties. A total of 24 male basketball referees, aged between 18-35, with at least 1 year of basketball refereeing experience, were included in our study. In the study, besides the personal information form, the signal detection, the visual pursuit, time-movement anticipation tests were applied to the referees in the Vienna test system. In addition, Reaction Time measurements were performed on the Testyoubrain device. Firstly, descriptive statistics were used in data analysis. Mann Whitney U test was used to determine whether there was a difference between the two referee groups. Correlations between all variables were calculated by Pearson product moments correlation. When the results of the study were evaluated in general, no statistical difference was found in attention, visual perception, time-movement anticipation and reaction tests in both levels of basketball referees. It is thought that since the experiences of the referees participating in the study are close to each other, they do not differ in their motoric characteristics. In future studies, it is recommended that these parameters, which measure the performance of referees, be tested in higher-level classifications and in different branches. Tests can be done in different situations before or after the competition as the place and time of application of the tests. In order to ensure that the referees are mentally ready for the competition, it can be aimed to teach mental or physical studies by providing detailed training on the tests carried out, and studies related to performance increases that may occur after long-term practice can be organized.
