Determination of Properties of Dark Matter Candidate in Model SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X

Project no. 23377 · Status: Kapanmış · 2021

Summary

The existence of dark matter, one of the biggest mysteries of the universe we live in, has been proven by precise measurements and gravitational observations from the cosmic microwave background and large-scale structures such as galaxies, but there is no conclusion yet as to what dark matter is and why it is formed. Although the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics agrees with many experimental results, it cannot explain it. Today, dark matter particles are thought to be non-baryonic and likely to originate from models beyond the SM. But the need to expand the SM arises, not only to explain dark matter, but also to answer important open questions such as neutrino masses, cosmological baryon number asymmetry, and the expanding universe. The most suitable extension of the SM is the local gauge group SU(3)_C?SU(3)_L?U(1)_X, which is called the "3-3-1 Model" in the literature. In this project, starting from the assumption that the new heavy neutrinos predicted by the SU(3)_C?SU(3)_L?U(1)_X model are dark matter candidates, the astrophysical limits for their masses were obtained, double extinction cross sections were calculated, the most suitable extended PMNS parameters for the observation of new heavy neutrinos were determined and obtained results were interpreted.
