Design, Construction, Control and Performance Optimization of a Nanofluid Parabolic Solar Collector
Project no. 20552 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2019
Summary

Renewable energy becomes a common alternative to fossil fuels. But, its important issues are the inability to provide constant power generation and high investment costs. Photovoltaic (PV) panels are used in the production of electricity from solar energy in our country. But, concentrated solar energy collectors stand out as more efficient systems in the world. While the efficiency can reach 20% in PV systems, it is 35% in concentrated solar energy systems. Concentrator systems are used to reach high temperatures by making maximum use of solar energy: Solar rays on the reflective surface are concentrated on the receiver and transferred to the working fluid, to be evaluated in a thermodynamic cycle or converted directly into electrical energy on the PV surface.

Concentrator system applications in our country is in negligible state. Therefore, their development will increase our competitiveness. Additionally, production of nano-additive heat transfer fluids (nHTF) with high energy carrying capacity, is of great importance. Nanoparticle studies are quite new in the world and few experimental performance studies regarding "graphene" are present. Besides, studies on DASC (Direct Absorption Solar Collector), which is the subject of this project, are quite new in our country.

In summary, in order to increase the collector performance, it was aimed to develop nHTFs with graphene additive instead of traditional fluids and to test them in real environment conditions of Izmir province by designing and producing a direct absorption fresnel lens solar energy collector having a solar tracking system.
