REVISION, PHYLOGENY AND PHYLOGEOGRAPHY OF GENUS GONOCYTISUS SPACH (FABACEAE TRIBE GENISTEAE)

Project no. 579 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

In this study, the genus Gonocytisus, which has 3 species in the world, has been revised and its phylogeny and phylogeography have been investigated. The diagnostic key of Gonocytisus taxa has been made, its morphological features have been revealed, and its descriptions are given. ITS and ETS of the nuclear DNA, the trnL-trnF and psbA-trnH regions of the chloroplast DNA were used to understand the position of the genus Gonocytisus in the Genisteae tribus and the phylogenetic relationships of the species in the genus. A new species has been defined with the morphological and phylogenetic data for the genus Gonocytisus, and the number of taxa has increased to 4 in total. The time for the species that make up the genus Gonocytisus to reach the common ancestor was calculated as 4.176-2.085 million years ago and it was revealed that the Pliocene Period of this period remained in the Piacenian Age. In haplotype analysis, it has been understood that genetic diversity is generally low and therefore gene flow continues within intra-species populations. Using ecological niche models, suitable areas where species can spread from past to present with climatic parameters have been estimated.
