INVESTIGATION OF DRYING BEHAVIOR AND MOISTURE TRANSFER PROPERTIES OF KNITTED FABRICS
Project no. 1194 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017
Summary
In this study, double jersey knitted fabric structures with high thermal comfort properties were designed in order to achieve rapid moisture transfer and drying properties, especially for sportswear. For this purpose, 30/1 Ne cotton, 30/1 Ne viscose and 150 denier polyester yarns in three different cross-sections (channeled, trilobal and round) and three different filament numbers (96, 144, 288) were used. With the combination of yarns, different double jersey knitted structures were produced. Air permeability, water vapor permeability, weight and thickness measurements were made on fabrics. In addition, moisture transfer properties and drying behavior of the fabrics were determined as performance characteristic. The obtained values were statistically evaluated and comparatively interpreted. As a result, it has been observed that all produced fabrics have the ability to permeate good water vapor with 40-50% relative water vapor permeability values and the fabrics having viscose yarn on both sides provide the highest air permeability. It was observed that the moisture management values improved and one-way liquid transfer values increased with the double-faced fabrics having different yarns on both sides. It was found that the drying times were significantly reduced in the fabrics including cotton yarns on the outer surface.
