Sunlight Simulated and Photovoltaic Assisted Drying System Configuration, Performance Assessment and Investigation of Using for Drying of Tomato Pulp

Project no. 20627 · Status: Kapanmış · 2019

Summary

In this doctoral thesis, the design and installation of a daylight simulated photovoltaic assisted dryer (DPVD) was carried out. The drying of tomato pulp selected as the thesis material under 3 different daylight application modes and 3 different light intensity combination treatment conditions was investigated. Considering the changes in some quality characteristics and performance characteristics, the most appropriate daylight application mode and intensity were determined. In the DPVD cabinet, the raw material with a moisture content of 80.60±0.73% was dried until it reaches a moisture content of 7.66±1.72%. At the end of the optimization process, the most suitable daylight application mode was determined as "daylight" and the application intensity was determined as "7500" Lux.

Different light application supports (ultraviolet, daylight and combinations) used in two different heating groups (hot air and infrared) in the DPVD cabinet were used and the most suitable drying conditions were determined separately in both heating groups. Daylight support in hot air heating group application; For the infrared heating group, the condition realized at 2 m/s air speed, in which ultraviolet light and daylight support are applied together, has been determined as the most suitable condition. The drying kinetics of tomato pulp dried under the most suitable conditions and by the method of drying under the sun, and the reaction degrees for lycopene and β-carotene losses were determined. In the last stage, it has been determined that the energy used in drying applications can be obtained from the sun, a renewable energy source, thanks to the panel system, if the energies of the system elements are supplied from photovoltaic panels.
