In vitro evaluation of the hydroxyapatite/locust beam gum Composite for bone tissue engineering and 3D Bioprinting

Project no. 21592 · Status: Kapanmış · 2020

Summary

Stem cells can differentiate into many cell types; also they have unlimited division and self-renewal features. These properties enable stem cells to be used in the treatment of tissue / organ damages, cancer and various diseases and are promising. Especially in medical and scientific studies, bone derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSC) are mostly preferred because they can be collected with high efficiency and they do not cause immune response. In bone tissue engineering studies, tissue scaffolds created with various methods and materials are used and cell culture is achieved within these scaffolds. Inorganic piers found in marine creatures can be used for these studies. Hydroxyapatite (HAp), calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and calcium phosphate minerals (Ca3PO4), which are in the mineral structure of sea urchin, are important components of bone and are especially used in orthopedic studies. Sea-based HAp and Ca3PO4 provide bone tissue regeneration in in vivo and in vitro conditions, and have high biocompatibility and osteoinductivity. Locust bean gum is an important substance that is preferred in the pharmaceutical and biomedical industry due to its biodegradability and used as a drug carrier gel. Bioprinters, which are a big step for medicine and science world, are used in various fields, such as tissue printing, drug research and development studies, and patient specific treatments. In this study, which aims to use the developed composite for bone damages and various bone disorders, HAp was obtained from sea urchin shells, bioprinting experiments were carried out by composing your HAp with locust bean gum and sodium alginate, and the results were analyzed.
