A Research on the Effectiveness of Electrostatic Sprayer Used in Citrus Growing

Project no. 1043 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

Turkey is among the top 10 producers in the world in terms of citrus production. However, despite this potential, production and export quantities are not at the desired level. One of the most important reasons for this is the loss of yield due to the failure of successful application of the plant protection product. Air assisted electrostatic sprayers are one of the new methods that have come to the forefront in recent years and the number of studies done in this country in our country is very low. Determining the performance and efficiencies of air assisted electrostatic sprayers in Satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marc.) spraying will be presented to the attention of farmers in our country, especially in this field where spraying is inadequate and may offer a different solution opportunity. In this project, pesticide and plant growth regulators were applied in mandarin orchard during 2 growing seasons with traditional air assisted sprayer and air assisted electrostatic spraying machine. The aim of the project is to determine the performance and efficiency of the air assisted electrostatic sprayer which will be useful in overcoming environmental problems arising from pesticide applications in order to increase the quantity and quality of citrus production in Turkey and to compare it with the traditional sparing method. Performance, disease control and product quality values of sprayers were determined. Electrostatic spraying machine in 50% lower norm applications than the traditional sprayer; coating rate, product quality and biological efficiency applications were obtained more successful results. Key words: Satsuma mandarin, Coverage rate, Distribution uniformity, Fruit quality, Biological efficacy
