EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT CROP LOAD AND PRUNING APLICATIONS ON VİNE GROWING, GRAPE YİELD AND QUALITY PARAMETERS OF EARLY SWEET (Vitis Vinifera L.) GRAPE VARIETY
Project no. 23691 · Status: Kapanmış · 2022
Summary

The examination of yield and quality elements in table grape varieties is of great importance. Significant differences are observed in the winter and summer pruning of the Early Sweet grape variety. Therefore, the study aimed to investigate the effects of different crop loads and pruning practices on grape yield, quality characteristics, and vine development in the Early Sweet (Vitis Vinifera L.) grape variety. The study was conducted in a 30-decare Early Sweet vineyard with 9-year-old vines, using the Y trellis system with 41B rootstock, located in Güzelköy Village of Manisa Şehzadeler District during the 2022 and 2023 growing seasons. The applications in the study, including short pruning, medium pruning, and long pruning as winter practices, and thinning with 15 and 25 clusters and no thinning as spring practices, were designed to determine the yield-quality and vine development in Early Sweet grapes. Additionally, to identify differences between applications, 23 different parameters were examined, including Cane weight (kg), Grape yield (kg), Marketable cluster count (number/vine), Average cluster weight (g), Average cluster and berry volume (cm3), Small berry count and weight (number/cluster)(g), Cluster length and width (cm), Cluster skeleton length and width (cm), Berry count in the cluster (number/cluster), Berry length and width (mm), Berry length/width (mm), Berry pedicel detachment force (g), Berry hardness (N), Cluster skeleton fresh and dry weight (g), Shed berry count and weight (number/cluster)(g), 100-berry weight, Berry skin color (L*, a*, b*), pH, SÇKM%, and Titratable acidity (TA). Although there was no statistical difference between the applications in the 2023 production year, especially in the applications carried out in the 2022 production year, the best yield, average cluster weight, cluster length and width, cluster peduncle width and length, shed berry count and weight, cluster skeleton fresh and dry weight, 100-berry weight, pedicel detachment force, SÇKM%, and titratable acidity parameters were determined in the short pruning with 15 and 25 cluster loads with no thinning applications. However, for the Early Sweet variety, the best pruning is recommended as short and medium pruning with an optimalcluster load of 25.
