Multi-Dimensional Pain Assessment in Newborn
Project no. 817 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016
Summary
Even the healthiest newborn experiences pain in the first minute of his life (vitamin K intervention, heel stick, etc.). Objective: The aim of the study was to determine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Neonatal Acute Pain Assessment Scale (NIAPAS) methodologically. Materials and Methods: The study included 100 neonates receiving treatment and care.in the neonatal intensive care unit Research data were collected by using the neonatal informative form, Neonatal Infant Acute Pain Assessment Scale (NIAPAS) And Premature Infant Pain Profile (PIPP). NIAPAS was evaluated in terms of language and content validity, concurrency, internal consistency, interrater compliance. Results: The validity index of the scale was found 0.87 and 1.00; Cronbach Alpha coefficient between 0.708-0.833. According to the results the item-total correlations were found to be high. A strong correlation was found between the Dimensional - PIP scores evaluated for concurrency. Conclusion: The Turkish version of the Neonatal Acute Pain Assessment Scale was found to be a valid and reliable measurement tool.
