Summary

Abstract

It is well known that there is a relationship between increased knowledge and awareness regarding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the earlier identification of individuals with ASD, their better utilization of dedicated services, and their higher level of social acceptance. Therefore, it is becoming increasingly important to have standardized, valid, and highly reliable measurement tools to identify the lack of knowledge among various segments of society and to measure the effectiveness of developed intervention programs. The aim of this study is the adaptation of the "Autism Stigma and Knowledge Questionnaire 2 Revised Form – (ASK-Q-2)," a standard and up-to-date measurement tool with proven validity and reliability in international studies, into Turkish and the Turkish culture. In the study, the psychometric properties of the scale were examined and analyzed by collecting data from individuals from various segments of society, teachers, and pre-service teachers. Data were collected from various societal groups, teachers, and prospective teachers to evaluate and analyze the psychometric properties of the instrument. Results indicated that the factor structure of the Turkish adaptation diverged from the original version. Additionally, the test-retest reliability was found to be adequate, with internal consistency coefficients falling within acceptable limits.

Key Words: Autism spectrum disorder, autism stigma ve knowledge questionnaire, measurement adaptation
