An example for the digital archaeology: 3D digital and physical models of arrowheads from Turkic Khaganate in Altai
Project no. 22507 · Status: Kapanmış · 2021
Summary
The Turks, who have spread over wide geography since the early periods of their history, and are known as skilled mounted archers. This situation caused that the researchers to have a special interest in the bow and arrows used by the Turks. However, it’s very difficult to continue this research because those Turkic artifacts from the early periods of Turks are found in countries such as Russia, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan. Obtaining special permissions and studying these artifacts became a more challenging process after the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been affecting globally since 2020. Our Project, which is shaped on these problems, and aims to prepare 3D models based on the published scientific papers and the technical drawings of the arrowheads of archaeological cultures dating to the Turkic (Gokturk) Khaganate period in the Altai region; to prepare education materials with the help of 3D printers and digital models through on online platform to provide materials for researchers who will study on arrowheads of Turks.
