DEVELOPMENT OF BIO-BINDER AND GEOPOLYMER CONTAINING INK FOR CONSTRUCTION APPLICATIONS AND DESIGN OF A UNIQUE 3D PRINTER
Project no. 21715 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2021
Summary

The harmful impact of the construction sector on the environment, the increasing population, the increase in the speed and quantity of construction and the developments in construction technologies have led to advances in both construction techniques and building materials. In terms of building materials, the use of natural materials and waste recycling has become one of the most important areas of study. In terms of construction techniques, additive manufacturing techniques have been one of the most researched topics in recent years and are still one of the most studied topics since they are new to the sector. The unique value of the project is that the microbially induced calcite precipitation (MICP) method will be used for the first time with mixtures containing geopolymer binders to obtain an ink for the additive manufacturing technique. In this context, a large-scale study on the effective use of bio-binders with geopolymers in additive manufacturing has been carried out for the first time.

In the study, firstly, the solution suitable for fast and efficient bacterial biocalcification using Sporosarcina pasteurii was optimized. Then, the optimum ink mixture was realized by examining the performance of geopolymer binders containing bacterial biocalcification solution. After the ink was made suitable for 3D printing with the changes to be made in the mixing ratios, the 3D printer was designed and manufactured, and the design and printing of model prototypes were realized.
