DESIGN, ANALYSIS and EFFECTS on CAVITATION of PUMP INDUCER USED in CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS

Project no. 21442 · Status: Kapanmış · 2019

Summary

Cavitation occurs on the suction side of the centrifugal pumps due to low pressures. Cavitation damages pump elements. One of the methods used to prevent damage caused by cavitation is to use an inducer placed on the pump suction side. Inducer keeps away the cavitation from the pump impeller and the life of the pump is extended while eliminating the limits of cavitation and its negative effect on efficiency. It also makes the parameters that need to be paid attention to prevent cavitation from being flexible. In this thesis, a inducer is designed to provide the desired parameters according to velocity triangles and Euler Head principles. Inducer solid model was drawn with SolidWorks software which is a Computer Aided Design program. Then, velocity and pressure analyzes were performed using ANSYS Fluent software with the Computational Fluid Dynamics method. In accordance with the results obtained, inducer optimization was performed. Then, the comparison of the pump with inducer and pump without inducer was made.
