Summary
<p>It can be said that research assistants are a bridge between academicians and students due to their positions. Therefore, the perceptions of both students and academicians are considered important in terms of understanding how the profession is perceived and positioned.</p><p><br></p><p>According to Article 33 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, “research assistants are academicians who assist in research, examination and experiments conducted in higher education institutions and perform other relevant duties assigned by authorized bodies”. According to this definition, it can be said that the jobs of research assistants cover a very wide range. However, these duties are not specifically defined.</p><p><br></p><p>In line with the main purpose of this study, it is to determine the conceptualization and expression of the professions of research assistants and to reveal how research assistants are perceived by students and academicians. This study aims to shed light on the functions, behavioral tendencies and qualifications required for the research assistant profession and those who practice this profession.</p>
