Phytochemical Analysis of Lamium garganicum subsp. striatum (Sm.) Hayek

Project no. 32055 · Status: Kapanmış · 2023

Summary

In this study, phytochemical analyses were carried out using the aerial parts of Lamium garganicum subsp. striatum, an endemic species for Turkey. Firstly, methanol, ether and ethyl acetate extracts were prepared from the dried and ground parts of the plant. The phenolic compounds selected in the extracts were determined by LC-ESI-QTOF-MS and the total phenolic contents of the extracts were determined by spectrophotometric method. Then, antioxidant capacities and tyrosinase inhibitory activities of the extracts were determined for biological activity determination. In the quantification study, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (958.3 µg/gram extract) for methanol extract, rutin (823.7 µg/gram extract) for ethyl acetate extract and catechol (512.8 µg/gram extract) compounds were determined at the highest levels for ether extract. Total phenolic amounts of the extracts were determined as 41.08, 33.68 and 8.22 mg Gallic acid equivalent/g extract for methanol, ether and ethyl acetate extracts, respectively. Antioxidant capacities were found as 22.16, 19.03 and 5.63 mg Trolox equivalent/g extract, respectively, and IC50 values for antityrosinase activity were found as 156.8, 450.3 and 211.7 µg/ml for methanol, ether and ethyl acetate extracts, respectively.
