Research on the improvement of bovine split suede leather properties

Project no. 23631 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2022

Summary

In this study, the improvement of the tensile strength and tear strength of split suede leathers, which are defined by their low strength properties, with various recipe designs was studied. In the study, phosphoric ester based oil, paraffin sulfonate based oil, lubricating acrylic syntan, sulfide fish oil, lecithin, lanolin and silicon based hydrophobic lubricants, which are known to have effects on strength properties, were tested in different combinations in the recipe. In addition, the traditional suede production recipe supplied by DEMİR Deri San. Tic. A.Ş, which is the support company in the project, was produced as a control group. The tensile strength, tear load, extension set, ball burst and shrinkage temperature results of the leathers obtained were compared using standard test methods. In addition, dynamic water resistance values, which are important performance values for suede leather, were also measured in the study.

According to the results; It has been determined that the different mechanical strength properties of split suede leathers can be improved to a certain level with the recipe designs and applications prepared by evaluating the reactions and effects of the fatliquors with the ability to improve the structurally low mechanical strength values, and the waterproof performance can be increased to the desired levels.
