INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF MICROBIAL STRUCTURE ON HYDROGENOTROPHIC BIOMETANE PRODUCTION
Project no. 21773 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2020
Summary

The hydrogenotrophic utilization of CO2, which is one of the most important greenhouse gas of the climate crisis and global warming, is a sustainable step for the waste-energy cycle. Hydrogenotrophic biomethane formation is the conversion of CO2 and H2 to biomethane with bioreactors in an anaerobic environment, and biomethane is an important energy source for our country.

Biomethane is produced in anaerobic sludge and these sludge structures are divided into two as granule and flock. In previous studies, it has been studied in different conditions such as wastewater treatment, antibiotic removal, where differences in microbial structure affect reaction conditions. It has been observed that such a comparison has not been made on hydrogenotrophic methane production, which is quite new for our country and the world.

In this project, hydrogenotrophic biomethane production will be studied in UASB reactors with simulated waste gases under mesophilic conditions and the effect of granule sludge and flock sludge on biomethane production was determined.
