Summary
The Tsarist period of Peter I (1682 - 1725) represents Europeanization efforts and modernization in all areas of Russia. Until the Tsarist period, Peter made a great effort to bring Europe's science and technology to his country as a aware of the backwardness of Russia. Gordon and Lefort were the most important consultants in the military field of Peter. Gordon is Scottish origin and Lefort is Switzerland origin. With the knowledge and experience of Gordon and Lefort, Peter brought the Russian army to European standards and he descended in the Black Sea and achieved great successes against the Turks. In our study, we will demonstrate the impact of Gordon and Lefort, who consulted with on Peter’s reforms especially in the military field, and the results of this impact, through the eyes of ‘the other’.
