Adölesan İdiyopatik Skolyozlu Hastalarda Alt Ekstremite Dizilimi ve Yaralanmaların Değerlendirilmesi

Project no. 22636 · Status: Kapanmış · 2021

Summary

This study was planned to include 116 patients aged 10-35 years, who were diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and applied to the Ege University Hospital Orthopedics and Traumatology outpatient clinic. The patients were informed about the study and those who agreed to participate in the study were referred to the Ege University Sports Medicine outpatient clinic. Here, the patients' past orthopedic complaints were questioned. After that, X-ray radiographs taken during the routine follow-up of the patients were evaluated and Cobb angle, thoracic kyphosis and lumbar lordosis angles were measured on the radiographs. Then, vertebral rotation was measured with a scoliometer in the clinical examination of the patients, which was followed by the measurement of both leg lengths, Thomas test, Q angle, straight leg lift test and the flexibility of the hamstring muscles with goniometer. Knee valgus and varus status were evaluated on the posture ruler. Finally, the SRS-22 questionnaire was filled in to measure the effects of scoliosis on the patients' quality of life and functional outcomes. Thus, it was aimed to examine the effects of the curvature direction and degree of scoliosis on the lower extremity and lumbar region alignments of the patients and previous orthopedic problems.

The results we expected in the study were to show that the degree of scoliosis of the patients affected the lower extremity alignment seriously and other orthopedic problems such as knee pain and hip pain could be caused by scoliosis. In this study, it is aimed to classify the effects of scoliosis on the lower extremities according to the type and direction, and to present a more integrated approach by reviewing scoliosis and its effects in patients with knee/hip pain.

Keywords: Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis, Lower extremity injur
