Project no. 1027 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017
Summary
In the design of barns in a sustainable dairy farming, it is aimed to eliminate environmental conditions that negatively affect animal welfare and cause stress. For this reason, there is a need for designs and constructions providing a successful environmental control. In this research, it is aimed to determine the structural and architectural performance of the production structures that constitute the physical infrastructure and to reveal the general situation of animal breeding and feeding practices in the selected farms. In this context, the structural and architectural features and the animal breeding and feeding activities were determined by survey and measurement studies. First of all, the structural and architectural performance of the farms were determined proportionally according to the predicted criteria. The general structural and architectural performance are 90.3% and 85.7% in farm number I and 85.9% and 67.1% in farm number II respectively. These results show that there are deficiencies in structural and architectural elements. In order to overcome these problems, it is necessary to comply with the building technique and architectural principles, and planning the dimensions and interior details. In addition, it was observed that they had high level investment in technology in herd management and milking, and received veterinary and consultancy services in animal breeding and feeding practices. However, it has been determined that there are some deficiencies / problems in animal health and nutrition practices. Suggestions have been made to make better animal health and to increase milk yield through improving breeding and feeding practices.
