CYTOGENETICS OF Helops glabriventris REITTER, 1885 (COLEOPTERA: TENEBRIONIDAE: HELOPINI)

Project no. 20098 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017

Summary

In this study, cytogenetic analysis of Helops glabriventris species, which are distributed in Western Anatolia, have been performed. Mitotic an meiotic chromosomal analysis are examined by Routine Giemsa, silver nitrate and DAPI stains with the slides that obtained from gonads. Chromosome number of these specimens was detemined as 2n=20 (9+Xyp) which is considered modal for Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae. It was determined that the 1st chromosome is the largest chromosome and the y is the smallest chromosome of the karyotype. As a result of silver nitrate staining, possible NORs has been observed at prophase I and metaphase 1 plates. With the application of fluorescence dye DAPI, the AT rich chromosome regions are photographed and the parachute structure (Xyp) has been shown to have strong fluorescence properties.
