Production of Nanoporous Films on Glass Surfaces with Antireflective Properties and Determination of Their Scratch Resistances
Project no. 24025 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2023
Summary
<p>This project aimed to develop coatings for use in solar energy systems that exhibit high light transmittance over a broad wavelength range while simultaneously providing scratch resistance. Within this scope, antireflective SiO2 thin films were coated onto glass substrates, and an optimized TiO2 thin film was applied as the top layer to improve the scratch resistance of the coatings. All thin films were fabricated using the sol-gel and dip-coating methods. To enhance light transmittance, various surfactants (Tween20, Tween80, SDS) and polymers (PEG300, PEG400, PEG1500, PEG6000, Pluronic F-127) were added to the coating solutions, and porous antireflective coatings were obtained after the calcination process.</p><p>Within the optimization of single-layer SiO2 and TiO2 films, the effects of production parameters, including silica/titanium concentration, additive type, additive concentration, and withdrawal speed, on the optical properties of the coatings were systematically investigated. The optimum production conditions obtained were subsequently used for the preparation of multilayer coatings. In the second stage of the study, multilayer SiO2 coatings were developed by increasing the degree of porosity in each layer. In the final stage, these coatings were covered with an optimized TiO2 top layer. The optical performances of the developed coatings were evaluated by transmittance and reflectance measurements performed over the wavelength range of 300–1400 nm, while their mechanical durability was assessed using the pencil hardness test. The chemical structure and morphology were further characterized by FTIR and AFM analyses.</p><p>Multilayer SiO2 coatings exhibited an average light transmittance of approximately 98.5% over the wavelength range of 380–800 nm and 98.4% over the wavelength range of 380–1400 nm. The TiO2 film applied onto the multilayer coatings caused only an approximately 0.5% decrease in light transmittance while significantly improving the scratch resistance.</p><p>The obtained results demonstrated that the developed multilayer antireflective coatings were able to simultaneously provide high optical transmittance and scratch resistance. The coatings developed within this project have significant potential for use in solar panels, as well as in optical glasses and other optoelectronic applications requiring high light transmittance.</p>
