NVESTIGATION OF ELECTROCHEMICAL OXIDATION OF SODIUM BORDHIDE IN METAL NANOPARTICLE-GRAPHENE OXIDE COMPOSITE ELECTRODES
Project no. 521 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018
Summary
The graphene oxide, synthesized by the Hummer method under laboratory conditions, was dropped on the glassy carbon electrode surface and Au nanoparticles were coated on the GO surface in AuCl4- solution and covered with cyclic voltammetry technique. The oxidation reaction of borhydride in all electrodes was examined in NaOH support electrolyte medium. In terms of peak flow and peak potential, the best catalytic activity to oxidation of borohydride was found to be at the electrode where Au nanoparticles are on the surface. As an optimization study, the NaOH concentration to be used as the support electrolyte was found to be 2 M, the solution concentration used in the formation of metal nanoparticles was 5 mM, the number of cycles was 20 cycles and the scanning rate was 50 mv / s. In line with all this information, it is predicted that metal nanoparticle modified graphene composite electrodes can be used in fuel cells due to the positive catalytic effect on the oxidation of borohydride. The composite electrodes prepared were morphologically and chemically characterized by SEM, EDX and XPS techniques, and Au nano particles can be formed by electrochemical method on the GO/GCE surface with an average size of 70 nm, and Au is stored in metallic form according to XPS results.
