Effect of aggregate type gradation and c/a ratio on the properties of pervious concrete

Project no. 22751 · Status: Kapanmış · 2021

Summary

Due to its high-cavity structure, permeable concrete has many advantages such as easily transferring air and water to a substrate, reducing sound and temperature, controlling dust and pollutants on the roads, and providing a safer driving opportunity, especially in rainy weather. However, the void structure, which causes high permeability, also causes low mechanical and durability performance in permeable concrete. In this study, it is aimed to improve both mechanical and hydraulic properties by examining the compatibility of two different aggregates with different gradations and the effect of the chemical additive and the effect of cement/aggregate (C/A) ratio. Within the scope of the study, two different aggregate types (limestone and natural) and three different gradations (5-15, 10-15 and 15-25) were determined. The mechanical properties of permeable concretes can also be improved by added admixtures in addition to aggregate type and gradation. For this reason, samples with different d/a ratios will be produced without using any additives first, and then the chemical additive will be added to the permeable concrete samples in the specified dosages. The effect of added chemical additives and dosages on the mechanical and hydraulic behavior of permeable concretes will be examined and the most ideal mixing ratios will be determined.
