Evaluation of Prophylactic Low Molecular Weight Heparin (LMWH) Efficacy with Thromboelastography in Patients Undergoing Lung Resection with a Diagnosis of Malignancy
Project no. 30750 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2023
Summary

Thromboelastography (TEG) is an analysis that provides general information about the hemostatic system by assessing the viscoelastic and mechanical properties of clot. This study aims to evaluate postoperative changes in coagulation profiles in patients undergoing lobectomy for malignancy and the effect of prophylactic low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) use using TEG. In our study, the TEG parameters r time, k time, and MA on postoperative day 0 showed a trend toward hypocoagulation. This was thought to be due to hemodilution resulting from perioperative fluid replacement. The α angle and Ly30 values showed changes toward hypercoagulation. Regarding the effect of LMWH, the r value was observed to be prolonged after LMWH use on postoperative day 3 compared to the preoperative period. However, it is unknown whether this effect is due to hemodilution or the drug effect. The α angle and Ly30 were able to demonstrate a trend toward LMWH-induced hypocoagulation. This study was supported by the BAP Unit.
