INVESTIGATION OF THE BEHAVIOR OF CONCRETE EMBEDDED COMPOSITE MEMBERS UNDER BENDING

Project no. 1324 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017

Summary

In this study, the behaviors of the composite members used to alleviate reinforced concrete structures under the influence of axial pressure and cyclic bending were determined experimentally and numerically. Efforts are being made to make the constructed buildings safer and more economical, and these studies bring along some developments. Preferring a reinforced concrete structural system in high-rise buildings, hotels, shopping malls and large conference rooms, instead of using a reinforced concrete structural system and structural steel elements, will be the best example of these developments. Following the composite structural system, engineers continue to work on composite members by bringing structural steel together with concrete. In this study, one reinforced concrete and three composite column beam samples were subjected to a 4-point bending test under the influence of 150 kN axial compressive force. The loads were cyclically actuated in the bending test. When the results are compared, it is determined that the composite columns show higher bending strength than the reinforced concrete column. It was determined that the composite columns have less displacement under the same load. While the amount of load it can bear in other loads after reinforced concrete column yield strength has been reached, it is concluded that the steel can harden and carry a load again in composite columns. When the cracks formed in each load repetition are examined, it is concluded that the cracks formed in the composite columns are less damaged than the reinforced concrete column. Finally, the 3D finite element model of the specimens of the study was created in the Abaqus Finite Element program and analyzed. The results presented in a comparative way. As a result, it was seen that the Abaqus program was successful in determining the maximum load value of the composite columns.
