Ege Kıyılarında Deniz Hıyarı Gonad Gelişimine Etki Eden Fitoplankton Tür Çeşitliliği

Project no. 22554 · Status: Kapanmış · 2021

Summary

Monitoring and analyzing the phytoplankton species and their abundancy, the amount of organic matter in the sediment and physico-chemical parameters that affect the gonad development nutritionally of the mediterranean sea cucumber (Holothuria tubulosa), which is widely distributed in the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, in the gonad development period in February-March and April for this purpose phytoplankton, sea cucumber and sediment samples were collected once a month from 3 selected different stations on the shores of Ayvalık district of Balikesir province. Determination of the species and quantitative analyzes of the collected phytoplankton samples were made. The amount of organic matter and physico-chemical parameters in the sediment were in situ determined. The collected sea cucumbers were dissected and the presence and development of the gonads was monitored and the gonad index was calculated. The quantitative and quality value changes of the phytoplankton species in the environment, the amount of organic matter in the sediment and physico-chemical parameters and the gonad development of sea cucumbers were compared and possible relationships were revealed. The obtained results will reveal important information about the organic nutrient composition required for the development of gonads in the aquaculture of sea cucumber rootstocks and the phytoplankton species and amounts that should be found in the regions to be selected for stock enrichment. We hope that our study will be useful for further researches on this subject.
