Özet

In this thesis study, morphological, ecological, anatomical and molecular studies 2 subspecies of Jurinea cadmea Boiss. distributed in Turkey were investigated. In order to reveal the life cycle of the Jurinea cadmea subspecies on population level, reproductive biology studies were also carried out. A total of 34 macro-micromorphological and 17 anatomical features of Jurinea cadmea subspecies in 4 population (İzmir/Nif Dağı, İzmir/Bozdağ, Denizli/Babadağ ve Muğla/Oyuklu Dağı) were investigated. To determine the phylogenetic relationships between the investigated J. cadmea taxa, the ITS sequences of nuclear ribosomal DNA and trnL-F sequences of chloroplast DNA from isolated DNA were compared. For most of the investigated morphological traits the lowest values of the coefficient of variability were found in individuals from Nif Dağı population, while the highest values of the coefficient of variability for most of the investigated morphological traits were found in individuals from the Muğla population. Investigated feature the number of capitulum per plant appeared to be the most variable morphological feature for both J. cadmea subspecies, on intrapopulation and inter-population levels. In term of cluster analysis, individuals from Bozdağ and Muğla populations (J. cadmea subsp. cadmea) proved to be the most similar when is about morphology of achenes and pappus, while individuals from Babadağ (J. cadmea subsp. cadmea) and Nif Dağı population (J. cadmea subsp. nifensis) based on the same analysis were separated into separate groups mainly based on the morphology of achenes, pappus, leaves, flowers and phyllaries. Morphometric analysis of J. cadmea subspecies were shown that morphology of achenes and pappus are the most important discriminating characters for the investigated subspecies. Presence/absence of glandular on the achene, the color and structure of the pappus, as well as the separation/non-separation of the pappus from the achene after ripening were shown as very good taxonomic characters for separating J. cadmea subspecies. As a result of the correlation of morphological, anatomical, and molecular studies performed, J. cadmea subsp. cadmea and J. cadmea subsp. nifensis have been shown to be subspecies that are clearly isolated from each other in all respects.
