INVESTIGATION OF ?-GLUCOSIDASE INHIBITOR ACTIVITIES OF A GROUP OF HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUNDS
Project no. 281 · Status: Kapanmış · 2017
Summary
?-Glucosidase is an enzyme secreted from the intestinal chorionic epithelium and responsible for carbohydrate hydrolysis. Therefore, ?-glucosidase is important therapeutic target to design postprandial blood sugar lowering agents. Currently prescribed ?-glucosidase inhibitors such as acarbose, voglibose, and miglitol have depicted different side effects including bloating, diarrhea, flatulence, pain, and abdominal discomfort. Hence, discovery and development of new ?-glucosidase inhibitors possessing high efficacy and low side effects are still in high demand as an attractive target for medicinal chemists. Due to wide–range and versatile biological properties, heterocyclics are of significant importance in the search for new bioactive scaffolds in pharmaceutical industry. In recent years, majority of research is focused on the development of heterocyclic molecules having promising ?-glucosidase inhibitory activities. In the present study, ?-glucosidase inhibitor activities of some synthesized heterocyclic compounds in our previous studies were tested. In addition, to investigate the ?-glucosidase inhibitor activities some quinazolinone derivatives was synthesized According to the biological activity results, the tested compounds exhibited promising ?-glucosidase inhibitor activities.
