Project no. 33054 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2025
Summary

Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is a common gynecological problem that adversely affects the quality of life of women of reproductive age. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of von Willebrand disease (vWD) among women presenting with AUB and to assess bleeding tendency using the ISTH Bleeding Assessment Tool (ISTH-BAT) and the Pictorial Bleeding Assessment Chart (PBAC). The study will be conducted at the General Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic of the Department of Internal Medicine and the Division of Hematology, Ege University Faculty of Medicine Hospital, and is planned as a prospective, cross-sectional, analytical study. A total of 110 female volunteers selected using purposive sampling will be included in the study. The inclusion criteria will comprise female patients aged 18–45 years, while patients with abnormal uterine bleeding due to organic causes and those with a known diagnosis of a bleeding disorder will be excluded. Demographic characteristics, clinical histories, ISTH-BAT scores, and PBAC scores will be recorded. Laboratory investigations will include complete blood count, activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT), prothrombin time (PT), fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor (vWF) antigen and ristocetin cofactor activity, factor VIII, ferritin, and PFA-100. Data will be analyzed using SPSS version 24, and a p-value <0.05 will be considered statistically significant. This study will be one of the studies investigating the prevalence of vWD in a large sample of patients with AUB in Türkiye and is expected to contribute to the clinical evaluation of patients with AUB and facilitate the development of diagnostic algorithms.
