RENEWAL OF INFRASTRUCTURE OF NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT FOR REDUCING NEONATAL MORBIDITY AND MORTALITY-3

Project no. 2 · Status: Kapanmış · 2014

Summary

More than half of infant deaths under one year is still seen in the neonatal period in our country. In recent years, improved obstetric and neonatal intensive care management have caused a decline in perinatal and neonatal mortality in the world, and also in our country. This BAP Project was programmed to renovate our neonatal intensive care unit in order to decrease the neonatal mortality and morbidity. An ideal standard of care for preterm, low birth weight, asphyxia, hyperbilirubinemia and congenital heart disease patients have been achieved with the new 18 incubators and 15 monitors. The devices obtained at the year 2015 helped us to decrease the unit mortality rate from 7.69% in 2014 to2.8% in 2018. Similarly hospital infection rates in the unit decreased from 33,15 to 25,15 and hospital infection density decreased from 23,45 to 9,1 in the same time period. With this advanced technology devices that have been provided to our neonatal intensive care unit, life saving treatments have been given to a great number of newborn infants. The use of these new devices has been contributed significantly to prevention of long term morbidities.
