THE EFFECTS OF MYCORRHIZA APPLICATION ON SOME COMMON BEAN DISEASES, DETERMINATION OF PHYTOPATHOLOGY RELATED PROBLEMS AND ECONOMIC ANALYSIS

Project no. 990 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

Among the 60 million tons of legumes produced in the world, beans have a production amount of 17.662.028 tons. Turkey is in the 3rd place among the most important producers in the world green bean production and annual production amount reaches 587,967 tons. Bean rust disease [Uromyces appendiculatus (Pers.) C.K.], root rot disease [Rhizoctonia solani (Kühn)], and bean common mosaic disease (Bean common mosaic potyvirus) are the most important diseases causing damage to beans in Aegean Region conditions. These disease factors lead to significant crop losses and significant reduction in seed quality under favorable climatic conditions. So it is very important that the pest control activities are carried out in accordance with sustainable agricultural production techniques in order to reduce the possible side effects on human and environmental health, agroecosystem and biological balance. In this study, it is aimed to clarify the fact that mycorrhiza applications in beans are a sustainable application in plant protection activities and provide a healthier and profitable production advantage by using less fungicide when combined within the scope of integrated disease management. According to our findings, mycorrhiza application caused 40% decrease in rust infection and 30.2% decrease in BCMV infection in sensitive genotypes. Contrary to expectations, there was no effect on root rot disease. According to the experiments we conducted in field conditions, mycorrhiza application prevented rust disease outbreak by 34% and fungicide applications by 65% compared to the plants without any application. The bean cultivars and local populations were grown in hydroponics and soiled systems and examined in terms of agromorphological features. High variability was observed between genotypes depending on the characteristics of the them and the materials used. According to the data, higher yield is obtained for all three cultivars used in soil conditions. In perlite, yield is the lowest. In terms of variety, cultivar 155T had the highest yield in terms of all three cultivation methods.
