INVESTIGATION OF PALBOCICLIB'S CYTOTOXIC EFFECTS ON TRIPLE NEGATIVE BREAST CANCER CELL LINES (MDA-MB-231 AND MDA-MB-468)

Project no. 30 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and is the most common cause of cancer-related deaths after lung cancer. Although there are positive developments in the treatment of breast cancer in recent years, there is no chance to cure triple negative breast cancer disease. Also, the mechanism of resistance developed against the drug during treatment still poses a major problem, and therefore new agents are needed. Palbociclib (PD) inhibits CDK4 / 6-cyclin D1 kinase activity. PD, like breast cancer, inhibits the proliferation of Rb protein intact cells at low nanomolar concentrations and suppresses DNA replication. Since the Rb pathway differs from the breast cancer phenotype, the sensitivity to PD also varies. In this study, cytotoxic effects of PD on triple negative breast cancer cell lines (MDA-MB-231 and MDA-MB-468) were investigated.
