DETERMINATION OF THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT NITROGEN DOSES AND IRRIGATION WATER APPLICATIONS ON FORAGE QUALITY AND NUTRIENT ELEMENTS CONTENT OF SUNN HEMP (Crotalaria juncea L.)

Project no. 21315 · Status: Kapanmış (Yayın bekleniyor) · 2020

Summary

The research was conducted to determine the effects of different nitrogen doses and irrigation water applications on the forage quality characteristics and nutrient element contents of sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea L.) in the trial fields of the Department of Field Crops, Faculty of Agriculture, Ege University, in the years 2019 and 2020. Different nitrogen doses (0, 2, 4, 8 kg da-1) and irrigation water applications [%125 (I125), %100 (I100), %75 (I75), and %50 (I50)] constituted the experimental factors. The trial was carried out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. In this study, along with forage quality characteristics such as plant height, stem diameter, biomass (herbage), hay yield, dry matter content and yield, crude protein content and yield, crude ash content and yield, NDF, ADF, crude cellulose, and crude oil, some plant nutrient elements (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn, B) were investigated in sunn hemp plants.

According to the results obtained, it can be recommended to cultivate sunn hemp under Mediterranean climate conditions using I100 irrigation water level and 8 kg da-1 nitrogen fertilization in terms of yield and forage quality characteristics. Furthermore, fertilization programs based on soil and plant analyses are advised for sunn hemp cultivation.

Keywords: Sunn hemp, irrigation water, nitrogen, yield, forage, quality, nutrient element
