Mühendislik Eğitiminde Laboratuvar Uygulamaları için Öğrenci Merkezli Online Öğrenme Ortamı Geliştirilmesi- (OMEL) (Engineering Student Centered Learning Approaches – ESCOLA)

Project no. 362 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018

Summary

This project, entitled "Developing a Student-Centered Online Learning Environment for Laboratory Practices in Engineering Education", aims developing an online digital learning for enhancing ICT skills and knowledge of teachers and students, using innovative and pedagogically evaluated information and communication technologies (ICT) tools and resources in laboratory learning. While developing the student-centered learning approach, the study integrated the ICT tools with the experimental learning that took place in the traditional laboratory environment, enabling the use of digital resources for teachers' lessons. By providing students with a time-independent learning environment, it is aimed that students develop skills appropriate to use in engineering laboratories. This project was shared with students through a student-centered learning platform using educational videos that were selected and scripted within the scope of the Materials of Construction course within the context of a pilot study at the Civil Engineering Department of the Engineering Faculty of Ege University. This mixed patterned study consists of 50 students who were educated in Ege University Engineering Faculty Civil Engineering Department in the spring semester of 2018-2019 academic year. In this study, “A General Attitude Scale for E-Learning for Education Faculty Students”, which was developed by Wilkinson, Rober and While, (2010) and adapted to Turkish by Haznedar and Baran (2012), was used. The effectiveness of the process and students' attitudes towards the process were measured using a single group pretest-posttest model. In addition, open-ended questions were asked to the students in order to examine the students' experimental videos and their views on the learning environment. As a result of the research, it has been found that the online learning environmentand educational videos in content affect engineering students' attitudes positively.
