THE INVESTIGATION OF THE USABILITY OF DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED THE PROTOTYPE MULTI-FREQUENCY SONOCHEMICAL REACTOR IN TEXTILE FINISHING PROCESSES
Project no. 1269 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016
Summary
The required parameters to design the sonochemical reactor, which is operated with single/multiple and low/high frequency transducers according to the usage field in textile finishing processes was detected in the context of this project. The usage of sonochemical reactors in textile finishing sector is available in laboratory scale; the usage has not yet been expanded to the industrial scale because of various problems in the design and implementation. Variables to be considered in the design should be examined before the development of the sonochemical reactor used in the industrial scale. For this aim, under this project, research was carried out with two main headings; the geometrical design of reactor and the properties of fluid/textile in the reactor. The geometrical design of reactor covers frequency selection (single/multiple and low/high), reactor design (cylindrical/rectangle), the position of transducers (side face and/or base mount) and bath volume (liquid height). The properties of liquid/textile in the reactor cover the temperature of the liquid, the hardness of the liquid, the circulation speed of the liquid and the type of textile materials. There is no study in the literature, which evaluates all together the variables and design the reactor used in textile finishing processes in the light of obtained results. When the geometrical design of the reactor and the properties of liquid/textile in the reactor were determined, the pressure distribution in the bath was analyzed. The cavitational activity was assessed by the aid of Visualization with Luminol. The pressure distribution in the bath according to the transducer positions and reactor design were analyzed by the aid of Finite Element Model. The erosion occoured on the aluminium foil depending on the frequency was determined. And also, the acoustic modeling was performed with the use of COMSOL Multiphysics. In this project, it is aimed to determine the variables and optimize them according to the usage field before the design of sonochemical reactor used in textile finishing processes. Data to be obtained was shed light on the design of multiple-frequency sonochemical reactor used in industrial scale. Thus, the first step of machine (multiple-frequency sonochemical reactor), which is environmentally friendly, economical and efficient, to be used in textile finishing industry, was taken with this project.
