THE EFFECT OF BUILDING ENERGY SIMULATION MODELS ON REDUCING THE GAP BETWEEN PREDICTED AND ACTUAL ENERGY CONSUMPTION IN BUILDINGS

Project no. 719 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016

Summary

The building sector accounts for 40% of total energy consumption and it is indicated that there is an approximately 100% gap between predicted and actual energy consumption. In addition to the factors that may be effective during the operation phase, the lack of accurate prediction of building energy performance in the design phase also plays a role in this difference. In this context, it is necessary to investigate the effect of assumptions made in the building energy simulation models on the results of analysis. This study aims at investigating the effect of zoning assumptions in energy simulations on building energy performance prediction results. In this context, three different zoning scenarios of an educational building were modelled via DesignBuilder program its energy performance was analyzed via EnergyPlus software. Different scenarios were evaluated in terms of indoor environmental conditions and predicted energy consumption.
