Summary

Surgical excision is the most critical step in the treatment of childhood tumors. Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid tumor in childhood, and surgical resection plays a vital role in its treatment. Traditionally performed through open surgery, these procedures have increasingly been carried out using laparoscopic and thoracoscopic techniques with the advancement of minimally invasive surgery.

In recent years, the use of advanced imaging technologies such as narrow-band imaging (NBI) in laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery has increased. NBI, by using different wavelengths of light, allows for a clearer view of blood vessels and mucosal surfaces, enabling surgeons to better assess tumor margins and vascular structures.

The use of NBI in laparoscopic and thoracoscopic neuroblastoma surgery enhances the precision of the operation by providing better identification of tumor tissue and reducing the risk of surgical complications. Additionally, this technique improves overall patient outcomes while maintaining all the advantages of minimally invasive surgery.

The application of NBI contributes to the development of minimally invasive surgical approaches, particularly in pediatric patients. By improving the surgeon's visualization of tissue structures and vessels during surgery, this technique allows for safer tumor resections. This technology is on the path to becoming a new standard in the treatment of childhood tumors.
