Summary

The clothing industry is one of the industries affected by today's digital age. In recent years, with the use of technology in clothing, the concept of wearable electronics has emerged. These garments enable measurement of many physical parameters and data transfer, often by integrating various sensors. However, accessing these products is unfortunately not easy. Some of them are still in the research phase and are available as prototypes, while others are sold at very high prices and have not become widespread in the market in our country.

The aim of this project; is to design and produce a comfortable underwear that measures respiration, pulse and temperature for bedridden people who are in need of care, have difficulty expressing their feelings and thoughts. The garment, which is planned to be designed especially for patients with respiratory distress, is an underwear and is produced from knitted fabric. For the production of knitted fabric, cotton, bamboo and viscose fibers are used because they are natural, healthy and comfortable. In order for the garment to wrap the body well, interlock knit, which is flexible due to its natural structure, is preferred. After the knitted fabrics were bleached and hydrophilized, softening and finishing processes were carried out. Then, physical and thermal comfort tests of the fabrics were carried out. A fabric that is most suitable physically and thermally was determined and an athlete was sewn from this fabric.Pulse and temperature sensors were placed on the athlete's right and left rib cage, respectively. The pressure sensor for respiratory measurement is placed on the diaphragm.Since the garment is designed as underwear, the sewing and sewing threads used are also chosen in a flexible and soft texture. Therefore, the wearer of this garment is intended to feel comfortable. Within the scope of the project, a system that can measure respiratory rate and fever per minute has been designed in cooperation with Ege University Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. The values measured by the designed system were compared with the values from the reference systems, and after obtaining acceptable error values, the integration of the system with the garment was ensured. As a result, an integrated, comfortable underwear was designed and produced, which facilitates the follow-up of people in need of care at home or in the hospital.
