Effect of Glide Path Creating on Different Parameters of Using a Single File Reciprocating Nickel-titanium Instrument in Curved Root Canals
Project no. 374 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016
Summary
The aim of this study was to compare the working length changes, root canal straightening and transportation of Reciproc Blue system with and without glide path preparation by using conebeam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging. Forty root canals of maxillary molar teeth with curvatures of 30°-40° were divided into 2 experimental groups (n = 20) according to the instrumentation technique as follows: Group 1: glide path was created with Path-File and canals were shaped with Reciproc Blue system, and Group 2: glide path was not performed and canals were shaped with Reciproc Blue system only. Pre and postintrumentation working lengths were measured and recorded as working length changes. All teeth were scanned before and after instrumentation by using CBCT scanner to evaluate root canal straightening and transportation. The data were analysed statistically using t-test. There was no significant difference among the tested groups regarding the working length changes, root canal straightening and transportation (P > .05). In conclusion, in severly curved root canals glide path formation prior to instrumentation with Reciproc Blue file systems has no effect on working length changes, root canal straightening and transportation.
