PREPARATION, CHARACTERIZATION AND EVALUATION OF ANTIOXIDANT EFFECTIVE SUBSTANCE LOADED NANOGEL FORMULATIONS

Project no. 235 · Status: Kapanmış · 2015

Summary

It is known that as a result of UV exposure, skin aging, pigmentation, wrinkles, dryness, tissue disruption, actinic keratosis and skin cancer can be seen. One of the most important effects of oxidative stress is that reactive oxygen species (ROS), ie free radicals, can cause Deoxiribo Nucleic Acid damage and inflammation as a result of lipid peroxidation, resulting in aging. Antioxidants can prevent these negative effects by reducing the formation and effects of free radicals. Antioxidants also have antiinflammatory, antiaging and anticarcinogenic effects. Vitamin C, an antioxidant agent, is also a reducing agent and acts as a radical scavenger. It releases H ions and shows antioxidant activity by inhibiting the radical chain. Conventional vitamin C preparations have difficulty in penetration to the skin in stabilization and topical application. In this study, it was aimed to develop a formulation that can overcome the stability and absorption problems of the active substance by preparing vitamin C nanogels. The studies started with active substance analysis and continued with characterization studies such as homogeneity, pH, viscosity, rheological properties, zeta potential, polydispersity index, particle size and in vitro dissolution studies of nanogels. The antioxidant activities of the formulations were also tested by cell culture studies.
