Bioinformatic Evaluation of PPARA and PPARG Candidate Genes Related to Milk Quality Characteristics in Turkish Saanen Goats
Project no. 20593 · Status: Kapanmış · 2019
Summary
Bioinformatics is based on the use of information technologies in solving biological problems and helps to explain biological phenomena at the molecular level. Correct evaluation of the information gathered about biological systems and events; Besides biology, biochemistry is possible thanks to bioinformatics, which is a new and interdisciplinary branch of science that is the result of the integration of information sciences, mathematics and statistics. In this bioinformatics study, DNA sequencing of PPARA and PPARG genes was performed from DNA samples isolated from blood taken from Turkish Saanen goats. Single nucleotide polymorphisms were investigated by comparing the DNA sequences obtained with the sequences loaded in gene data banks. The possible effects of gene sequences and possible gene variants obtained through bioinformatics programs were predicted with amino acid sequence and protein structure. The gene expression levels of both genes in milk samples taken at certain periods of lactation will be determined by Real Time PCR, some quality parameters (dry matter, fat, true protein, total protein, laktose, not-fat dry matter, freezing point and somatic cell number) in milk samples were investigated and the relationship between gene variants and quality parameters was revealed. With this project, it will be possible to increase the accuracy of breeder selection by obtaining the genetic information of Turkish Saanen goats, which stand out in terms of milk yield, as well as their yield parameters. In this context, information was obtained about the creation of gene bank data of Turkish Saanen goats in the future, and their genetic relationships with Saanen goats.
