Synthesis of New Pt and Ru Complexes Determination of Anti-Alzheimer Properties
Project no. 21432 · Status: Kapanmış · 2020
Summary

In the proposed study, two new Schiff base ligands and Pt(II) and Ru(II) complexes of these ligands will be synthesized based on aldehyde and amine. After the structure elucidation, the interactions of these complexes on Alzheimer's will be examined.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a special type of dementia that accounts for approximately 60-80% of dementia cases. Dementia is a neurodegenerative disease that affects memory, language, attention, problem solving and decision-making and results from damage to the brain. After heart and cancer diseases, the most costly, difficult and troublesome treatment in the world is applied to Alzheimer's patients. Plaques due to Aβ1-42 aggregation are shown as the most important factor causing the disease. Within the scope of the project, the synthesis of ligands and complexes, the clarification of their structures, and the histidine nitrogens present in Aβ1-42, which is the most important factor shown to cause Alzheimer's in the laboratory environment, To study the interaction of compounds. With this study, the necessary preliminary information will be obtained for the compounds to be used as pro-drugs in the treatment of the disease.
