RAYLEIGH – TAYLOR INSTABILITY IN A QUANTUM PLASMA

Project no. 482 · Status: Kapanmış · 2018

Summary

In this study Rayleigh–Taylor instability which is one of the unstable conditions encountered in plasma environment is studied. This instability plays an important role in understanding the plasma structure and the conditions that may occur within it. It is directly related with stellar structure and evolution in astrophysics. Quantum plasmas are formed by electrons, ions, pozitrons, and/or particles. Quantum mechanism and magnetic field are examined effects on the Rayleigh–Taylor instability in an ideal incompressible quantum plazma. Quantum–MHD equations are used and the dispersion relation is derived using perturbation analysis. Equations are solved by fixed boundary conditions an analytical form of growth rate of Rayleigh–Taylor instability are obtained. There is no difference between classical plazma and quantum plasma in view of the magnetic field effects on instability but, when the quantum effects are investigated it shows that the instability are supressed by these effects. To understand the importance of quantum effects on Rayleigh–Taylor instability, some parameters are given and an astrophysical situation is examined by using these parameters.
