RESEARCHING THE EFFECT OF ENDEMIC PLANTS ON GLUCOSE REDUCING OF BIOTECHNOLOGICALLY PRODUCED INCRETIN
Project no. 1229 · Status: Kapanmış · 2016
Summary
Nowadays, it is clearly seen that Diabetes Mellitus holds a place which it’s frequency and prevalance increases dramatically so that it begins to threat the public health in the community. In order to control the pathology of such disease which grows in an unexpected, fast and significant way,the studies and reasearches on various different treatment models and altrnative treatment and therapies continues. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the possibility of usage of herbal sources as means of ıncretin based treatments which is aimed to replace the usage of synthethic antihyperglicemic oral drugs. This is done by investigating the glucose-lowering effects of phenolic constituents which are extracted from endemic plants named as Olive,Blueberry and Mountain Tea(Spring Tea). hese plants are used to search for their means of usage in the inhibition systems of alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase enzymes which their synthethic drug formsa re present in market. It is investigated that the effectiveness of plants and at how extent they are effective in inhibition of these enzymes which are crucial for the treatment of diabetes. Extraction of herbs are done both by boiling water that is the herbal tea preparation process and using different ratios of alchols to be able to determine the best method for obtaining maximum amount of polyphenolic constituents. An available enviroment for human body is maintained by encapsulating the recombinant incretine hormone into chitosan coated PGA molecule and tested as a drug-carrier system. In the environment of which glucose is present and with the plant extracts which are used as inhibitors and the microcapsules which the incretine hormone is in, the activity and effectiveness of lowering the glucose by three plants is investigated to determine which one of the plants is most effective as an antihyperglycemic agent.
